Inauguration Day 2005 – Suit of the Day

On the V.I.P. deck where George W. Bush was re-inaugurated last Thursday, there were many famous political figures. It was a stream of well dressed powerful people; all of course wearing business suits. For the men we saw an unnumbered flow of black suits. The women were a bit more creative and we saw many different colored suits. Mrs. Cheney wore a pale blue dress suit; the Bush sisters (i.e. Jenna and Barbara) wore cream and beige colors. However, I must allow my partiality for the First Lady, Laura Bush to take the place of “Suit of the Day” if there is such a thing.
I would now like to ask everyone to think back to a time wherein which they thought that Laura Bush was dressed inappropriately. Note: I did not ask if you liked what she was wearing, but rather if she ever dresses inappropriately. Mrs. Bush always looks like royalty and appropriately so. Her husband is the president of the most powerful nation in world. Would we the American people want anything but an appropriate looking First Lady? In many ways Mrs. Bush serves as an ambassador to the world, from a country that is a symbol of hope, democracy, freedom, and so much more; The United States. She always presents herself the way a true lady should, with grace and dignity.
Seeing all the business/dress suits was in many ways like watching all the best and worst dressed celebrities arrive at the Oscars or more recently the Golden Globes. All the politicians and their spouses looked their best. Elizabeth Dole, I recall, looked especially well. However, when George, Laura, Jenna, and Barbara exited the White House to board their limo, it was clear Laura Bush was the most pristine woman at the inauguration. She looked absolutely stunning in a word: angelic. They say the bride-to-be and expecting mothers just glow with pride. Our First Lady was glowing as well, way to go Mr. President. *smile*
